The datacollection stopped January 1st 2011 .
The Injury Register has collected detailed data on all types of accidents in the period 1990-2010. The data serves the purposes of describing injury patterns and external causes of injuries for the benefit of planning and implementing injury prevention.
The Injury Register collected data from emergency departments of four Danish hospitals: Glostrup, Frederikssund, Randers and Esbjerg. The catchment areas of these hospitals constitute a representative sample of approximately 12% of the Danish population.
The Injury Register’s historical background
The Register was originally established as part of a project in the National Board of Health in 1990. The Register was made permanent in the mid-1990's, and is today located in the Centre for Injury Research at the National Institute of Public Health.
The Register was originally rooted in the European EHLASS project and subsequently, in a national community-based intervention project, the so-called ‘5-community-project’.
