Nordvold is a joint Nordic research project, initiated and supported by the Nordic Council of Ministers during the period 1998-2004. The aim was to improve the knowledge of the health consequences of physical violence and sexual abuse against adults, with a focus upon violence against women.
From 2000-2006, several PhD projects were completed on the basis of patient surveys in all five Nordic countries and comparable population studies in Denmark, Finland and Norway. Additional research projects were carried out in conjunction with European research institutes.
