Description:
In 2007, the National Institute of Public Health, on behalf of the Minister for Gender Equality, conducted an internet-based, national, representative youth survey on dating violence among 16-24-year-olds. The study aimed to gain insight into young people’s well-being and daily life, including the problems young men and women may be facing in regards to conflicts and violence in dating relationships. The study comprised focus group interviews that illuminate young people’s attitudes towards dating violence and their recommendations for prevention.
The magnitude of the study makes it possible to assess gender differences in victimisation and associations between exposure to violence, health, health behaviour and other factors in the youths’ social and cultural environment.
The report ”Unge og kærestevold” presents the results of this nationwide youth survey, including comprehensive quotations from the focus group interviews, offering a solid basis for developing strategies to prevent dating violence.
