National database on violence against women

Description:

As part of the Danish national action plan to stop violence against women, the institute established, in 2004, in cooperation with The Danish National Observatory on Violence against Women and the Ministry of Gender Equality, a national database on violence against women. It is based on different data sources, national registers, surveys and shelter statistics. These include: The National Cause of Death Register, the National Patient Register, the National Crime Register, including statistics on victims, a number of population registers in Statistics Denmark, the Danish National Health Interview Surveys 2000 & 2005, as well as annual shelter and rape centre statistics.

 

By 2007, the database was updated and now also contains  data about violence against men in Denmark.

Reports with verviews of violence against women and against men in Denmark have been published  in 2004, 2007 and 2008.
